Five weeks to go!

In five weeks we are leaving our current world behind and going travelling for fourteen months. Somehow between now and then we need to pack all our belongings into storage (having first got rid of the ‘stuff’ we have accumulated over the last 19 years for reasons that now don’t seem obvious as to why we hung onto), do all those things to the house that we should have done years ago but which have now become urgent because we need to rent it out, and say goodbye to friends and family.

Storing boxes up to ceiling level

The aim is to leave on a plane and head to New Zealand at the beginning of November with all the right things in the right place and with our sanity intact – no mean feat given the mountain of tasks ahead. To-do lists are in abundance and I àm bitterly regretting having left only six days between finishing work and our setting off. NEVER AGAIN!

However, we are making this journey in pursuit of a promise from God that he wants to use this time to engage with us and to show us who He is and who we are. The guiding verse for our travels, and from which the name of our boat (and the title of this blog) is derived, is Hebrews 6v19 ‘We have this hope [the promises of God] as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure’.

… but five weeks!
